RANDOLPH--Braintree head coach Dave Fasano became the 24th active coach to reach the 200-win mark in a 3-1 win over league rival Framingham late Wednesday afternoon.
The Wamps (4-1-0) assumed first place in the Bay State Conference - Carey Division behind goals from Aidan Flynn, Dara Canavan and Shawn Leslie and 17 saves on 18 shots from Owen Cuddyer.
After a scoreless first period, Flynn and Canavan scored 45 seconds apart in the first two minutes of the second period, each player beating Flyers goalie Alex Moore high to the glove side.
Joe MacInnis slipped one past Cuddyer at 8:46 of the second to get Framingham (2-3-1) back within a goal, but Leslie re-established a two-goal edge for the Wamps with 33 seconds left in the period. Colin Guilbalt led a break up ice and fed and outlet pass to Liam Sage, who dropped the puck to Leslie for the tally.
Guilbalt had two assists for Braintree.
Moore made 27 saves (on 30 shots) for the Flyers.
Each team will host another Carey Division rival on Saturday, with the Wamps welcoming the Needham Rockets to Randolph and Framingham bringing in the Newton North Tigers to Loring Arena.
